Last year, 932 children were served in after school programs, over 200 children participated in Teen Court, and 32,000 hours of volunteer time was dedicated to children in the schools through tutoring and mentoring. Family Resource Centers in Ash, Leland and the Southport Brunswick Learning Center served over 2,800 clients. CIS also awarded five academic scholarships to graduating seniors in 2006.
The St. James Service Club was founded in 1997 and has over 200 members. The club has raised and distributed over $262,000 to 25 nonprofit groups across Brunswick County.
