Program Mission: The mission of the CIS Family Resource Center (FRC) is to connect needed resources in order to help families successfully learn and prepare for life.
Program Description: The CIS Family Resource Center is provided by Communities In Schools of Brunswick County, offering classes and programs to assist families in learning and preparing for a more productive life. A local program committee serves in an advisory capacity to identify the services needed. This committee consists of people from a variety of agencies, businesses, churches, schools and area residents.
Brunswick County residents are invited to participate in any activity and to suggest other ideas where they have a special need or interest. Please contact us if you would like to become part of our family resource network.
Our Family Resource Center is a warm and welcoming place where families can come in times of need or as a part of their day-to-day life. The FRC is unique in its approach in that it implements family support principles. The FRC:
builds on families' strengths and capacities
works with the family unit in a holistic manner
works for positive social change, and
offers help without stigma.
The Family Resource Center is a one-stop center that enlist the help of businesses, industry, churches, civic groups, service organizations, agencies and individuals to provide family support services to families and individuals in need of assistance. The following programs and services may be offered, based upon the needs of the community:

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Single Parent Support Group
Computer Classes/Computer Usage
Emergency/Special Family Assistance
Food Stamp Applications
Health & Human Services
Coupon Workshops/Exchanges
Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
Women/Infants/Children Nutrition Program (WIC)
Life skills classes
Reading Buddies
Miscellaneous Workshops/Activities
Information/Referral/Resource Linkage
Volunteer Opportunities
How You Can Help:
Volunteers and partners are needed to help in ways such the following:
Assist in any of the FRC programs as a volunteer
Provide translation services
Provide transportation
Donate educational toys, books, computer programs, children's clothing, etc.
Provide office assistance
Donate financially to the program
